UNLOCKING YOUR DEVICE

In order for your phone, USB Modem or Wi-Fi Hotspot to work with the USA SIM Card, your device must be unlocked. All iPads and Tablets are already unlocked.

Your phone or device must be network unlocked to use the USA SIM Card. If your phone or device is network locked, you’ll need to contact your carrier and request that it be unlocked. Remember, it’s solely your responsibility to ensure your phone or device is unlocked, otherwise the USA SIM Card won’t work, and you won’t be able to get a refund. We can’t unlock your phone or device.

If you want to check and test if your phone or device is already unlocked, just insert into it a SIM Card from a different network, and check if it connects to the different network. If it does connect, then your phone or device is unlocked. If it doesn’t connect, or your phone or device displays an error message, then your phone or device is locked and you’ll need to get it unlocked.

DEVICE COMPATIBILITY

Your phone, iPad, tablet, USB modem or mobile hotspot must be technically compatible to use the USA SIM Card. Every phone manufacturer designs their phones to work with a variety of network technologies. In some cases, your phone may not have all the hardware capabilities to get the full benefits of T-Mobile’s 4G network. Just because you've used your phone in another country doesn't mean it will work in the USA.


iPhone 6, iPhone 7, iPhone 8 and iPhone X are technically compatible with the USA SIM Card (as are any newer iPhones that get released after iPhone X). iPhone 5 is not compatible for data (you'll only be able to call and text). Most other recent model unlocked Smartphones are also technically compatible. All iPads are also technically compatible as are most other recent model tablets, USB modems and mobile hotspots.

If you're using our USA Phone SIM Card: For 4G LTE connection in the USA your phone must operate on Band 2(1900), Band 4(1700/2100) and Band 12(700). For 3G connection in the USA your phone must operate on Band 2(1900). Confirm your phone has 4G LTE Bands 2, 4, and 12 or check at Will My Phone Work, choose your brand, model, sub-model, and USA from the country list, then T-Mobile from the carriers list to check your phone’s compatibility. If you're using our USA Data SIM Card (for tablet, USB modem or mobile hotspot/MiFi): For 4G LTE connection in the USA your device must operate on Band 12/17(700). For 3G connection in the USA your device must operate on Band 5(850) or Band 2(1900). Confirm your device has 4G LTE Band 12/17 or check at Will My Phone Work, choose your brand, model, sub-model, and USA from the country list, then AT&T from the carriers list to check your device's compatibility. Every device manufacturer designs their devices to work with a variety of network technologies. In some cases, your device may not have all the hardware capabilities to get the full benefits of AT&T’s 4G network. Just because you've used your device in another country doesn't mean it will work in the USA.

  • Both networks offers the best coverage and 4G data speeds across the USA, including Hawaii and Alaska.
  • We use the T-Mobile mobile network for our USA Phone SIM Cards, which offers the best coverage and 4G data speeds across the USA, including Hawaii and Alaska. If you want to check coverage in a particular area, you can check out the T-Mobile Coverage Maps (which will show coverage for our USA Phone SIM Card) and you can check out the AT&T Coverage Maps (which will show coverage for our USA Data SIM Card for iPad, Tablet and Mobile Hotspot).
  • Yes – Hawaii and Alaska are part of the USA, so the USA SIM Card will work in Hawaii and Alaska.
  • Your USA SIM Card comes with a local USA mobile number. When you land in the USA and first turn on your phone, you’ll receive a text message with your USA mobile number. And you can also check the number in your phone’s settings.
  • Unfortunately it’s not possible to know what your USA mobile number will be until you arrive in the USA and first connect to the network.
  • When people back home call or text you, they’ll be calling or texting a USA number, so it will cost them whatever their phone company charges to call or text a USA number. It’s always free for you to receive calls and texts.
  • Your USA Phone SIM Card comes pre-activated and ready for immediate use from the date you specify in your order. No further activation steps are required once you land in the USA. The SIM Card will start working immediately from the date you specify in your order.
  • Your USA Data SIM Card for iPad, Tablet and Mobile Hotspot requires activation, and we provide the activation steps to you.
  • Your USA SIM Card plan lasts for 29 days, starting on the date you specify in your order.
  • If you’re staying longer just top-up on our website and get another 29 days. All plans last 29 days, so it’s only possible to recharge for a full further 29 days – you can’t recharge just for a few extra days.
  • If you want to use your Phone SIM Card in Canada or Mexico, just choose the Canada and Mexico Add-On as part of your initial purchase. You won’t be able to add it later so make sure to select it with your initial purchase if you want it.
  • With this add-on you can use your plan’s inclusions (data, minutes and texts) in Canada and Mexico: you’ll have unlimited minutes and texts to USA Canada and Mexico landline and mobile numbers on any network and unlimited minutes and texts to other people using our SIM Card. It’s free for you to receive calls and texts from anywhere.
  • You can use up to 5GB of your data allowance at our fastest 4G speeds in Canada or Mexico and then speeds will be reduced to 3G or 2G for the remainder of your plan’s data allowance. When you return to the USA your data speeds will again be our fastest 4G speeds.
  • If you’re on the Extreme Plan it’s free to hotspot/tether in Canada or Mexico. Data speeds are limited to 3G when you hotspot/tether.
  • If you have the Calling and Texting Abroad Add-On then you can use it in Canada and Mexico so you can still make calls and send texts back home.
  • The Extreme Plan is by far the most popular plan for Smartphone users, because it comes with lots of our fastest 4G data, minutes and texts.
  • You can order as far in advance as you want. But don’t worry, your plan only starts from the date you specify in your order.
  • We ship from our warehouse in the United Kingdom. If you're located in the UK, you can choose Regular Mail (2-4 business days via Royal Mail Signed For 1st Class) for £2 or you can choose Express Mail (1 business day via Royal Mail Special Delivery) for £7. If you're in the EU, you can choose Regular Mail (3-10 business days) for £8 or you can choose Express Courier (1-3 business days) for £17.50.
  • You can order your USA SIM Card as far in advance as you want, but we don’t send it until three weeks prior to your departure date, due to local telecommunication restrictions on how far in advance the SIM Card can be activated before first use.
  • There are no pick up options, we don't have a shop or office and you can't buy our SIM Cards in any store.
  • Your phone or device must be network unlocked to use the USA SIM Card. If your phone or device is network locked, you’ll need to contact your carrier and request that it be unlocked. Remember, it’s solely your responsibility to ensure your phone or device is unlocked, otherwise the USA SIM Card won’t work, and you won’t be able to get a refund. We can’t unlock your phone or device.

    In addition to any rights you may have under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 insofar as that legislation may apply to the purchase of a PAYG SIM Card delivered to you by a requested date, here's information about our returns policy:

    • When you purchase your USA PAYG SIM Card from us, you are required to specify the date from which you want your 29 day plan to be activated (requested activation date). We will start the 29 day plan on the requested activation date because that's when you requested your 29 day plan to start.
    • If you want to change your requested activation date or you wish to return your SIM Card to us, you must let us know by email to info@usapayasyougosimcard.co.uk at least 72 hours prior to your requested activation date. Unless we hear from you otherwise we'll start your 29 day plan on your requested activation date.
    • If you let us know by email at least 72 hours prior to your requested activation date we can (a) change your requested activation date to a later date, or (b) we can cancel and refund the cost of your SIM Card.
    • Once your requested activation date has arrived or past, we can't change your requested activation date or provide a refund to you.
    • In addition, we can't provide a refund to you if the USA PAYG SIM Card doesn't work in your phone because it's not technically compatible and/or it's not network unlocked. It's important that you check your phone is technically compatible and/or network unlocked - our FAQ page provides full details.
